Thanks to a flood of early support for WisDems, Janet Protasiecz, and allies, Team Janet groups started with a major lead.
As of February 28, Janet’s campaign had $6.5 million in TV ad reservations for the 6-week general election vs. under $1 million for groups backing Dan Kelly.
The strategy here was—is—simple: define the race by getting the truth out before the GOP could drown the truth in lies. Make sure people know that Wisconsin’s criminal abortion ban is on the line in this race. Communicate early and often.
By making its TV ad reservations early and all at once, and by buying through the campaign rather than through PACs, Janet’s campaign locked in lower ad rates.
Meanwhile, the GOP money machine waited. And now it’s made a move.

Do the math. The $3.2 million reservation for ads backing Dan Kelly (or more specifically, vicious ads attacking Janet Protasiewicz) covers just over two weeks of advertising. Whereas Janet’s $6.5 million covered six weeks.
We’re now being outspent.
But it's not over yet.
We got a head start in the first two weeks of this race. Now, with four weeks left in the race, the MAGA money is flooding in. But we can flood right back. They want a red tsunami. Let’s give them a giant blue wave.
They have one message. Crime. Fear. And if you don’t notice the dog whistles in their ads, you’re not paying attention.
We have a more powerful message. Freedom. The freedom to control your own body.
If people hear our message, we’ll win.
The same ultra-MAGA mega-donors who flooded the airwaves with vicious lies to help Ron Johnson win last year are at it again. But that time, they had the early spending advantage. This time, we did. And now, we can't cede the airwaves.
