Even Trump’s closest aides know better than to invest in his campaigns [1]

The Times reports that after looking through eight years of campaign finance records, they were only able to find a “handful of contributions” from the more than 40 high-ranking staff members of the Donald’s previous three campaigns. This means they didn’t offer up any dough to Trump’s political committees, or the campaign itself.

According to them, they “gave at the office,” so to speak. At least that is what former Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told the Times when asked why she didn’t contribute anything to the Trump campaign. Of course, Kellyanne also gave “nearly $30,000” of her money to other campaigns over the past eight years.

Another former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski (a sort of late-era Michael Cohen character), told the Times that while he has donated close to $17,000 to people’s campaigns, he made sure not to open his wallet any more than he had to when working for Trump. “I have donated thousands upon thousands of hours of my time to help President Trump without compensation,” he says. He also says he’s paid for his own travel since 2017 when working with Trump.

Remember Reince Priebus? He’s reportedly spent $130,000 of his own money over the past eight years, spreading it around to action committees and conservative candidates. He was even Trump’s White House chief of staff for like 15 minutes or something. But when it came time to contribute to Donald Trump’s campaign, Reince wrote a big zero in his check book.

All the new people working for Donald Trump, including the super-dubious Jason Miller? Zero dollars and zero cents. What about Trump’s former chiefs of staff, Mick Mulvaney and Mark Meadows? They gave $0.00 multiplied by two! How about everyone’s favorite head of hair, Steve Bannon? Nope. But listen, it’s a policy with Bannon.

“I have never given to any politician except a buddy, Kris Kobach,” Mr. Bannon said.

So, no money to politicians … except that one politician. But he’s a “buddy.” You know who did give the maximum allowed to Donald Trump? Brad Parscale. For his part, Parscale was fired, torn apart by Trump’s operatives in the media, and has clearly felt remorse for being involved in helping Trump’s campaign. You see, there’s something that the rest of the vultures around Trump understood that Parscale clearly did not: Giving money to Donald Trump puts you in the same category as the rest of the MAGA-crowd of donors. Scientists and business folks have a name for that category: suckers.

What else can be said about Donald Trump that hasn’t already been written in oil on a sarcophagus and thrown into the river Styx? He’s a miserable man whose narcissism is so acute that he must devour everything around him in the hopes of masking his insecurities from not only the world, but himself.

Markos and Kerry luxuriate in the battle going on between Donald Trump’s ascending fascism and Mitch McConnell’s disappearing neocon establishment. The fighting has become much sharper recently as the MAGA-media outlet Fox News has traveled further and further away from reality.
