Fun times can take many forms — going to see a Bruce Springsteen concert with 20,000 new friends, for example. It could also be said sarcastically, while holding up a freshly operated-on arm and hand at said concert when you realize the sound of one hand clapping is not nearly as loud a sound as you’d like to make as you’re screaming out lyrics to songs you’ve known for practically your whole life.

Welcome to the Colorado State Open Thread, which provides a place to talk and share about our great state, people and events. This past week has been full of highs and lows, some of which apply to {in}famous Colorado political figures, some affect highs around the state, and some of both affect yours truly.

Getting started, former Mesa County clerk Tina Peters was found guilty of a misdemeanor crime of impeding justice. She still awaits trial in August on ten more serious felony charges, all of which she has brought on herself. It must suck to be her. Yet she keeps subjecting herself to losing - she is running for the leadership of the Colorado GOP. Much as I would enjoy her pushing Colorado farther left and maybe even cause Lauren BooBoo to lose her race to Adam Frisch, I don’t think Colorado Republicans want Tina’s type of leadership, based upon how the state party quashed the El Paso County Republican’s efforts to promote the “Big Lie”. If they do, however, you can put “L” for “Loser” on top of each of their foreheads.

A low point, for me, has been the broken arm, described last week.

What a waste of time, energy, money and other things

I had my procedure last Tuesday to reattach the bone. It took more than the single screw they were hoping for, but apparently it went fairly well. I get this brace and sutures removed Friday and then I’ll have a removable splint for 3-4 weeks while the mending bone solidifies. It still hurts some and it’s awkward, but I am solely responsible for it, so, I’ll live with it.

Even without being able to applaud at the concert it was a high point, I could still take some pictures and I certainly enjoyed the heck out of the show. We were in the very top row, in back of the stage.

I’m getting tired of snow (a low), but Estes Park and the mountains are very pretty in the snow (a high). One problem from the snow is that there’s snow and ice, and I feel uncomfortable walking the dogs in the uncertain footing (a low). I may try taking them to the dog park tomorrow, however, which will be a high if the snow is either gone or mostly so. I just don’t want to slip and hurt my arm even worse. Every day this week brings the possibility of more snow, but only an inch or less. It’s enough to smooth over the snowscape, but not make driving impossible.

A low and a high come from having lost about nine pounds since I got back a couple of weeks ago from my trip. I have been trying to lose weight but it keeps finding me. I hope this time I can keep making serious dents and keep heading to new lows, which will bring new highs.

A high for me was a diary written by Youffraita on our Black Tailed Prairie Dogs. There was a lot of new information in there for me and for you.

A low for Ms. BooBoo was an effort by her to be isolationist, but she just proved her poor geography skills. The diary is here.

I look forward to reading what issues are on your minds on this Monday evening and beyond. The floor is yours...
