Weathering the Storms [1]

Enough, damn it! The insurance company made me hire someone to trim all the tree branches away from the roof of my house. When this was done I got hit with an ice storm that I called a tree storm because one tree was topped by the weight of the ice and every branch that had not been trimmed and could fall on or near my house did. So I wound up with a yard and a roof covered by unmilled lumber. Needless to say the repairs and cleanup were not inexpensive. I hate to think how much worse it would have been if I had not had those trees trimmed before the ice or tree storm hit.

Now I have been snowed in for two weeks. The snow is over seven feet deep! I have shoveled my way out of the house, but I cannot go anywhere because the roads have not been cleared. Another tree on my property has now been topped by the weight of the snow, and two trees on my neighbor's property have fallen. Fortunately, the treetop that fell on my property did not hit my house this time. I am hoping that all of those branches I lost during the ice storm mean my trees will not hold enough snow to make the trees fall, but it is not something I can count on. I am also worried about the weight of the snow on my roof. Adding to my concerns is the fact that I am very close to running out of food!

I know I will weather this storm, but I hope I get some relief soon! I am sure that is a wish shared by all the other people who live up here. We need those roads and highways open now!
