There is a very disturbing video making the rounds on Twitter that shows the execution of a Ukrainian soldier who was captured by the Russians.

In the video he is standing in a wooded area smoking a cigarette. When he says “Slava Ukraini,” he is cut down in a hail of automatic weapons fire from different directions. It is very graphic.

I won’t post it here. If you want to watch it, you can find it pretty easily on Twitter. But be warned.

It has already sparked outrage, as it should. Executing prisoners is a clear war crime.

x Earlier in the day, a video was shared online in which an unarmed man in a military uniform with a Ukrainian flag was allegedly shot dead after saying "Slava Ukraini (Glory to Ukraine)," a Ukrainian national salute. — The Kyiv Independent (@KyivIndependent) March 6, 2023

This tweet shows the Ukrainian soldier right before he is shot. It is just a still photo.

x Sometimes it takes only one picture, one second in life to express the desire and wish of an entire nation. Russians have committed every imaginable crime and always failed to subdue Ukraine.

We will not forget!

We will not forgive!

We will win!

What kind of animals take video of an execution and then post it online like some kind of trophy? Did they even realize that they were making a martyr of him? Photos have tremendous power in war and conflict and this one will resonate far and wide.

Yes, this kind of thing happens a lot in war, not just in Ukraine but in many wars. The difference here is that it is on video. You can’t turn away. You can’t unsee it. It had the same impact on me as the famous photo from Vietnam of the naked girl running down a road after a napalm attack.

This one photo can do far more damage to Russia than 1,000 HIMARS rockets.

The soldier hasn’t been identified yet, but he is already a martyr.

There no doubt will be monuments built, stamps printed and coins minted in his honor. He will be immortalized in Ukrainian history the same way that Nathan Hale is a part of American history.

Slava Ukraini!

Holy shit, that’s a lot of armor.

Either sabotage or the usual Russian lack of adherence to safety standards.

Has Seymour Hersh done a full Greenwald?

x Things Hersh claims now:

- 1972 was 21 years ago

- Russia hasn't committed its main force into Ukraine

- The attack on Kyiv was a feint

- Ukraine has lost the war and "it's just a question of if Zelenskyy can steal enough money to make him happy"https://t.co/IwJXxaeVcf — Oliver Alexander (@OAlexanderDK) March 4, 2023

Try not to laugh.

x You Can't Make this Shit$ Up: Even Putin is trying not to laugh. When deployed in the winter, it requires a 20-person snow removal team. FYI: The "robot" is nothing more than a manikin and the ATV is remote controlled. #OSINT #UkraineRussiaWar #Ukraine https://t.co/5QmD6I7lRR — OSINT (Uri) 🇺🇦 (@UKikaski) March 6, 2023

Bryansk is a Russian city about halfway between Kyiv and Moscow.

x Kraken, a Ukrainian special forces unit, is taking credit for the latest attack on Bryansk

The tower was being used by Russia to surveil the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian media reports, such as those from Kyiv Independent, are not sure when exactly the Kraken attack took place. — Samuel Ramani (@SamRamani2) March 5, 2023

Knock, knock. Who’s there?
