Smerconish did a news journal bit on The American Male and a loss of dating.

It is a 10 minute piece and worth every minute of your time.

Assumptions in the Article

1) The Hill is reputible

2) Population Decline is bad

3) Women are the cause of men’s suffering. The choices women make affect men detrimentally.

4) If men and women don’t accept the burden of the necessity of men taking low wage jobs to support the economy we will go under. The inability of men to do so is the reason white nationalism is on the rise. Blame social media and porn 1st.

5) Married families out perform non married families — declining household savings world wide is not mentioned — nor the divorce rate, nor the rates of infidelity. Nor the burden of single mothers and dead beat dads. Let alone abuse statistics.

Ideas not in the conversation

1) Global and cross cultural phenomena of population decline

2) Economic advantage to not reproducing

3) Historical and Cultural fact that homosexuality has always been a part of human sexuality, therefore a statistical chunk of men that do not want to date women. Women who date women and won’t date men are subtly given the blame.

There is a subtle white privilege and white supremacy threat in-bedded with the conversation.

The fact that white men are more prone to white supremacy conspiracy, and terrorism.

Translates to — we better address their needs so they don’t kill us.

Whereas — Perhaps the illusion of perpetual prosperity is over. Maybe if the focus was on inclusivity — and community, men would be more involved and social.

The rejection of inclusivity and community would seem to be the logic wedge — boys need more physical activity, boys need _____. Fails to observe that the boys have been and remain favored in the failing system that is producing the problem.

What the piece gets right is

1) The times they are a changin

2) Men and Women reject marriage and reproduction in greater numbers

3) We are creating white male terrorists.

(We don’t have to be doing this — but the billionaire class finances this disillusionment, and weaponizes it to dismantle and reconfigure the financial, social, and political order it can control)

4) We need the progressive agenda to fix our problems.. The call is made repeatedly to invest in the middle class and to invest in youth. Things like Daycare — universal healthcare — school lunches etc … not mentioned.
