On the Sunday evening news was the short announcement that Ukrainian pilots ARE in F16 assessment/evaluation/pre-training in simulators. The first two are being evaluated for skill level, and adaptability for training, and flying the F16.
My Take. If these Pilots are as good as I think they probably are. I would hazard a guess that these Mig25, 29 and Sukhoi SU-27 capable pilots will make quick progress, with skill sets somewhere equivalent, or close to US pre-F16 Pilots transitioning to the F-16.
I consider this brief announcement heralds a major breakthrough in the process of bringing Ukraine’s already tough and skillful pilots, and Soviet era Air Force up to a skill level closer to the US and NATO’s Pilot force. An obvious necessity before Ukraine actually gets the F-16. Also the House passed bill 329-101 last July, funding F-16 training for Ukraine. Obviously there may be some language barrier problems. But a major necessary step forward
This is a very short Diary as the information announced was sparse. It was on NBC, CNN,and several other outlets.
