NYT PRE-PUBLISHES APRIL FOOL’S DAY PARODY ARTICLE! [1]

I sent this in to the Letters To The Editor Bin this morning.
I thought I had awakened on April 1 when I spotted The 3-column front page article, “Black Equestrians Plead For Helmets That Fit”. Is this news? Young black women, well-to-do enough to be equestrians, cannot find specialized helmets to fit over their “locs” (that one had me stumped at first, and then I got it- dreadlocks). The article continued on page 17, noting New York Times investigative reporters (plural) had contacted horse-riding helmet manufacturers to uncover the depths of this scandal. Friends, there are young black children suffering from food insecurity, lack of warm clothes in the winter, forced to attend poorly-funded schools, facing challenges every day just to get through life. I assure you that none of them are preoccupied with the size of available riding helmets. You can do a lot better than this. My advice to these equestrians? Wear shorter hair.
Over the 39 years that I have been reading the New York Times, I have never read so inane an article.
