This isn’t being a particularly good month. But progress is being made physically, at least.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Monday was a late-start school day here in Portland. Tuesday was a normal day. It tried to snow, it tried to hail. It was too warm for either to stick. The weather site I have bookmarked claimed snow at 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. Not where I am, but I wonder if there was a stripe around town again.
I’ve done some cleaning out of my refrigerator. Not something I need to do very often, since I usually use things up before they spoil.
Thursday was an entirely normal schedule for school, apparently. I got to the school to pick my grandson up at my usual time and waited for him to get out of school. When I left home, it was partly cloudy. It got cloudier and darker while I waited, and just after he got to the car, it started hailing. Not large pellets — this is PDX after all, and we get large hailstones even more rarely than heavy snow — but definitely hail. It took somewhere between five and ten minutes to get home, and the precipitation just kept getting heavier. When I got parked, I told my grandson to make a run for it and headed out myself. I was soaked and pounded on all the way across the parking lot, and had to towel myself off when I got inside — my hair was sopping! Half an hour later, it was back to partly cloudy. I just love spring in the Pacific Northwest.
I ran a test yesterday and discovered that I can’t hear my bedroom telephone when I sleep in my usual position — it is not very loud and my ear is just enough plugged up…. This certainly explains why I wake up to my answering machine when I fall back asleep during the week.

Love you guys!
