This week, we learned that News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch admitted—in a deposition related to Dominion’s $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News—that some of the network’s commentators had endorsed election lies in the wake of Donald Trump’s humiliating loss to Joe Biden in 2020. And boy oh boy, did that ever get under Trump’s onion-paper-thin skin.
In Trump’s solipsistic Bizarro World, he clearly won the 2020 election, and that’s all there is to it. His evidence? Well, he doesn’t really have any. Who needs evidence when you consistently sound like an IBS-afflicted Godzilla vainly searching Tokyo for a non-pay toilet?
When it comes down to it, Donald Trump’s brain is kind of like a holiday Jell-O mold—it’s smooth and wobbly, always seems to show up out of nowhere even though no one likes it or wants anything to do with it, and possibly has random hunks of fruit floating in it, though it’s difficult to say for sure without using a spoon. But mostly, it’s because it can be shaped into whatever bent reality or circular logic suits Trump at any given moment—kind of like if the Jell-O mold were designed by M.C. Escher instead of JCPenney.
But hey, that doesn’t mean everyone isn’t required to embrace his febrile election fantasies as if he’s somehow managed to conjure them into reality. And Rupert Murdoch—who’s carried more water for Trump than his caddy—is no exception.
