Boehner's successor Warren Davidson joins Freedom Caucus [1]

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was an early supporter of Davidson and helped recruit him to fill Boehner’s seat after the former speaker headed for the exits.

Davidson, a former Army Ranger who won the election to replace Boehner on Tuesday and was sworn in earlier Thursday, met privately with the group last month.

Although the House Freedom Caucus doesn’t make its membership public, a source said Davidson’s addition brings the group to roughly 40 members.

In a cruel twist of irony, Boehner and former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor were both replaced by members who joined the Freedom Caucus.
