Though I’ve avoided the subject all weekend I do have what I believe are some unique and interesting ideas...

The only answer to the question, “Is there a God?”, is NOBODY KNOWS FOR SURE… If you claim to KNOW THE ANSWER to that question then you are, in my opinion, a fundamentalist.

My personal opinion is that all the religions of the world are feebly attempting to describe, from different perspectives, the same indescribable feeling… Whether you call it God, Yahweh, Allah, or Brahma; whether you follow Jesus, the Buddha, Confucius, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or the Jedi and the Force from Star Wars… It’s all the same thing as far as I’m concerned.

At this moment electrical signals inside your brain are processing what you’ve just read...

The law of conservation of energy states that energy can be neither created nor destroyed. That which fuels your thoughts was once part of the food you ate — which was once part of the matter that makes up this planet — which originally sprung from the Big Bang. The atoms of our bodies were created in the nuclear furnaces of exploding stars. We, and everything around us, are literally made up of stardust.

Modern science still has trouble figuring out exactly how brains do their thing. Human consciousness is somewhat miraculous...

mir·a·cle / ˈmirək(ə)l / a highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences.

The stars in our universe are arrayed in a matrix not dissimilar to the neurons in your brain. Side by side with no captions you’d be hard pressed to tell images of the two systems apart. How one can look at that and not entertain at least the slimmest possibility that the energy of the universe might have a consciousness is beyond me.

I highly doubt that any such consciousness would even notice the ingrown butt hair on it’s ass that we call planet Earth, let alone give a shit about it’s inhabitants…

Nevertheless, a feeling of peace and tranquility comes over me when I’m below ground digging a trench inhaling the scent of Earth… It’s the same feeling I get being out in the woods surrounded by nature away from all the other humans on this planet. I don’t get that feeling in churches these days, but it reminds me of how I used to feel sitting next to my grandmother in church as a child… Serene.

No religion has a monopoly on hate or love...

No nationality has a monopoly on wrong or right… Neither does any political party. All the squabbling about things beyond our comprehension serves only to divide us. The wars and oppression and hate and destruction done in the name of religion needs to come to an end. I think that is something we can all agree on.

The PROBLEMS this world currently faces affect every organism on this planet. As a species we have a greater impact on this bubble of life we’ve been provided than any other. Our biosphere is just 11 miles thick if you recall...

I haven’t read everything that’s been written here in the last several days. Quite honestly, I’m afraid to… However, I hope you can all understand that despite our differences, we need to get along. The survival of our species depends on it.

I realize some of these ideas are pretty far out there. They’re just ideas, electrical signals from inside my individual human brain… And now they’re inside yours!

Fucking crazy, right?
