The Thing about UFOs... [1]

Caveat: This is my first contribution though I have been a fan of kos for a very long time. In fact, you all saved me from going nuts during the orange years. I am not a native speaker which is the main reason why I never wrote an article before so please bear with me — Thanks.
Like most of you I followed the UFO hype after the revelation of US government agencies that yes, there are UFOs out there. Frankly, this should not come as a surprise. Let’s look at the basics here: UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object with emphasis on “Unidentified”.
Essentially that means if you look up in the sky and you see something fly up there erratically and you do not know what it is that makes this thing unidentified. This does not mean you will never know what it is — you just do not know what it is for the moment. It stands to reason that a lot of the stuff that causes blips on radars and what not are at first unidentified. So far so good.
What it does not mean is if you look up in the sky and you see something fly up there erratically and you do not know what it is that makes this thing a vehicle from outer space which carries a bunch of little green man fond of conducting anal probes on unwitting passersby.
In addition, me thinks we lack a certain amount of hubris. Even if we assume that we have set sight on visitors from outer space how come we have the audacity to presume that we would be able to shoot them down from the sky like clay pigeons? If “they” are here they command a technology we do not even know how to dream up. I highly doubt that mankind has something in its armory that would even make a dent into a “flying saucer”.
Furthermore, if “they” are here we would never know unless “they” wanted us to know. Additionally, we might be careful in what we wish for. Our species is still trying to figure out how not to wipe ourselves from the face of this planet. What makes us think that beings who are able to travel space unharmed would be interested in us or our opinion or our welfare on anything? On the alien front I think it would be prudent to hold it with the late Stephen Hawkins — stay in the background and lay low for a couple of hundred years.
