America’s Gender Critical transphobes need to be picking on flat-earthers instead of the trans community, since the scientifically ignorant are a much more deserving 1% of the population, and likely have “seized a hold of our country” in a much more pernicious way. Scripted violence against flat-earthers is no less insane than transphobic force. Heron Greenesmith wrote an InTheseTimes piece responding to the Pamela Paul opinion piece in the NYTimes defending JK Rowling in advance of her next media effort. Dan Quayle doesn't have to put on a dress to save America, considering how he convinced Mike Pence to do the right thing. Similarly, Flat-Earthers are likely a bigger threat than drag queen/king story hour.
A 2017 national poll by Public Policy Polling (opens in new tab) found that only 1% of Americans believed the Earth was flat, with an additional 6% saying they weren't sure. There was very little evidence of differences in this belief by political affiliation, with any differences between Trump voters, Clinton voters and third-party voters falling within the poll's margin of error of 3.2%. www.livescience.com/... x “Seized a hold of our society” go touch grass, nobody talks about it other than the less than 1% of the population that is trans or the less than 1% of the population that watched your outrage porn every day. 98% of the population is living their lives not thinking about this. — Craig McDonald (@CraigMc42277055) February 16, 2023
x Mike Pence’s real reason for challenging Trump special counsel subpoena.
https://t.co/qrVjetJX8r — Laurence Tribe (@tribelaw) February 14, 2023 See, Quayle served as a sort-of sounding board for Vice President Mike Pence in the final days of the administration as President Donald Trump leaned hard on him to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The back-and-forth is documented in “Peril,” a soon-to-be released book by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. Here’s the key bit: “Over and over, Pence asked if there was anything he could do. “‘Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. Forget it. Put it away,’ Quayle told him. “Pence pressed again. “‘You don’t know the position I’m in,’ he said, according to the authors. “‘I do know the position you’re in,’ Quayle responded. ‘I also know what the law is. You listen to the parliamentarian. That’s all you do. You have no power.’” www.cnn.com/… Dan Quayle Malapropisms "Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child."
"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican."
"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any vice president, and that one word is 'to be prepared.'" "When I have been asked during these last weeks who caused the riots and the killing in L.A., my answer has been direct and simple: Who is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame. Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to blame." "Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not having it." "You all look like happy campers to me. Happy campers you are, happy campers you have been, and, as far as I am concerned, happy campers you will always be."
—in a speech to American Samoans "What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is." "We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world." "Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teaches our children." "Mars is essentially in the same orbit...Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe." "For NASA, space is still a high priority." "[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system." [...] "The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century." "People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history." "I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy—but that could change." "I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"It's wonderful to be here in the great state of Chicago." "The American people would not want to know of any misquotes that Dan Quayle may or may not make."
"I stand by all my misstatements." www.liveabout.com/...
x A Times columnist who is not LGBTQ or respected in the community now claiming to be an authority on what is and isn't transphobic. Yet she doesn't quote a single trans voice.

x Don’t worry, Pamela Paul read all her books and she, a cishet woman who also doesn’t like trans people, has found no evidence of transphobia. Except for a trope that is transphobic. But why explore that in any detail? pic.twitter.com/PVb9d0haKX — Niko Stratis (@nikostratis) February 16, 2023
x This is some next-level obfuscating bullshit: accusing your staff of bias bc they protested your bias.
P.S. there is no such thing as an unbiased position. That false belief in uiversaility/neutrality/objectivity is itself a profoundly biased stance. @FAIRmediawatch

x All this does is show that when it comes to issues of sex versus gender identity, that they’ll ignore objective reality & pander to some really harmful ideology. Not something to be proud of…it’s like announcing that they’ve won an award from a flat-earther society 🤡
