EMBRACE WOKE

I am going to keep this short and

sweet. Embrace 'woke'. I would much

rather be awake at the wheel than to be

‘non-woke’ while those trying to turn

the word into a pejorative steer us

into chaos.

When someone tells you to 'wake up',

they are telling you to become aware

and to start thinking rationally and

critically so that you do not fall into

error. The very fact that people use

the word 'woke' to cast aspersion means

that they know they are trying to blind

us. They are telling us to not believe

our lying eyes. That we should see and

understand the painful and unjust

actions in our past, they want to bury

with the word 'woke'. That we should

treat others with the same kindness and

respect we would wish to have them

treat us they call 'woke'.

I want to be awake. And I want others

to see me as awake. I am quite proudly

'woke', and our world would be a much

better place if more people 'woke' up.
