This week I decided to check out big band leaders. I already had a few in my “faves” file but I decided to go in a slightly different direction. The most important black bands to emerge were those of William “Count” Basie and Duke Ellington according to this article. A troubled but brilliant vocalist sang with the Count Basie orchestra. Here is Billy Holiday singing They can’t take that away from me with the CB Orchestra.
Gentle reminder: Please continue to put the name of your selection in your comment along with your song. Those of us on our phones? We really appreciate it.
You know how this works — Put your quarter in the slot and your song in the comments. This is your Saturday night jukebox and the party starts NOW.
