Why do you help others?
1- They- If you give that person money for food he will just spend it on drugs or alcohol.
Us- If I give that person money for food they have a choice to buy food with it. If I do not give them money for food they will go hungry by my doing, not theirs.
2- They- If you give them money for food today they will just be hungry again tomorrow.
Us- But they won't be hungry tonight.
3- They- This is just a random person on the street. You will never see the again.
Us- I see them now.
4- They- They don't even know your name
Us- I know my name
5- They- Why bother? The Universe is a dead, mindless machine that cares nothing about people suffering.
Us- I am a part of the Universe and I care.
6- They- If they had money and you needed help they would not help you.
Us- I am responsible for my behavior; I am not responsible for theirs.
7- They- You should save your money for those who deserve it.
Us- I am not buying and selling virtue.
I am a proud liberal Democrat and proud to be a member of a party and a fellowship that cares.
