This is the same guy who oversaw the largest defrauding of Medicare in the history of the country and he is the one who is confused if he thinks he can escape the facts. The internet never forgets.

Senator Rick Scott affirmed and denied that he proposed to sunset Social Security and Medicare at one and the same time while calling President Biden "confused". The Republican Party has been opposed to both Social Security and Medicare since their inception as anybody paying attention to these matters knows. Senator Scott oversaw the Senate Republicans Re-election campaign. So, this isn't some back-bencher proposing this. However, it's extremely unpopular to do so. Once sunsetted, does anybody, anybody in this country, imagine that they would vote to keep it or bring it back? Of course not.

Scott doubles down on sunsetting all federal programs after Biden’s jab

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON 02/08/23 10:56 AM ET

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) on Wednesday defended his proposal to sunset all federal legislation after five years and slammed President Biden as “confused” in response to Biden’s claim at the State of the Union address that some Republicans want to sunset Social Security and Medicare.

“In my plan, I suggested the following: All federal legislation sunsets in five years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again,” Scott said in a statement following Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress. "

"Now among the many federal laws on the books is a law called the Social Security Act. This law was originally passed in 1935 to create Unemployment Insurance, Aid to Dependent Children (cash welfare for widows and orphans --- later extended to cover all poor single women with children renamed Aid to Families with Dependent Children [AFDC]), and Old Age and Survivors Pensions (what is commonly thought of today as “Social Security.”). Since then, the law has been amended many times and expanded dramatically. Here is a link to the current Table of Contents of the law: . The law currently has twenty-one titles --- and under each title are many sections. (I have actually tried to find out how many pages are in the now expanded Social Security Act but could not. I would venture to guess it might be in the thousands!). Included in the current law is an entire section covering Medicare which is administered by the Social Security Administration. (Medicare was passed as an amendment to the Social Security Act in 1965.)"

As politifact says is mostly true:

Says Rick Scott "oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in the nation’s history."
