A poem from my best friend, Jim Sharp:
DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS
Jesus challenged us to be as He would,
To do what GOD on earth would do:
Living as Truth in a corrupted world,
Shining a Light through dark and doom.
As we are made in GOD’s own image,
More than merely flesh and blood;
A vessel waiting to receive the message
Of perfect power: GOD is love.
This sacred ground is the world we share,
So we must live as neighbors;
The Lord’s example is to heal and care,
The Holy Spirit guiding our behavior;
The way is simple — follow His example:
When you have the mind of Christ
You see all men through Jesus’ eyes.
Given direction by a heavenly touch,
He humanly put His faith into action;
Living each day to serve the least of us,
Moved to miracles by compassion.
He proved the righteousness of the Word,
Our treasure is His spiritual wealth;
He forgives us as we forgive the world,
Loving our neighbors as ourselves.
Our prayer must always be: “To do GOD’s Will…”
Love one another, and our enemies.
What we sow, we reap: love heals, hate kills.
Blessed are the godly whose path is peace.
With prayer and fasting, love everlasting —
When you have the mind of Christ
You desire mercy more than sacrifice.
