Republicans have no shortage of creativity when it comes to pushing former President Donald Trump’s name out into the general public, as much as we would like to forget the monstrosity of his four years in office. One recent example comes to us out of Tennessee, as reported by local outlet WKRN, where two Republican lawmakers (Sen. Frank Nicely and Rep. Paul Sherrell) introduced a bill that would rename a small portion of Rep. John Lewis Way to President Donald Trump Boulevard.

In a word: Yikes.

The street is located near the Tennessee Capitol Building. Republicans are seeking to rename about two-tenths of a mile. The proposal (HB 1372) was filed on Jan. 31 by Sherrell and introduced in the Senate (SB 1407) on Feb. 1 by Nicely.

If you’re thinking: Are they seriously trying to rename part of a road dedicated to a literal civil rights leader and Freedom Rider during Black History Month to honor Trump? You are, indeed, understanding what Republicans are trying to pull. And you are, indeed, rightfully horrified.
