My life has been soooooo exciting lately.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I haven’t seen this anywhere on DailyKos — which doesn’t mean somebody else didn’t post it — but here are 183 good things that happened in 2022.
How ancient Great Zimbabwe provided its population with water.
111 trees per daughter.
A bronze sword found in the 1930s in the Danube at Budapest was thought to be a replica. It’s not. It’s 3000 years old.
‘No pain, no gain’ debunked.
Pompeii’s House of the Vettii reopens.
Biggest flower found in amber has been identified.
A moat that protected Jerusalem during the Crusades is being excavated. The biggest mystery so far is the carved hand imprint.
This one is interesting: Using lasers to control lightning.

Well, I got my taxes filed. The final 1099 I needed arrived on Wednesday. Refunds from both federal and state — though I must say, the state one qualifies as tiny.
I still don’t have the (long out of print) book that got shipped to me on December 8 from, it turned out, London, England. All things considered, I will wait another week before I yell at the company I paid for it.
I’m getting over a cold at the moment. First time I’ve been sick since February of 2020. Can’t say I’m enjoying it, but I do know it isn’t COVID.
Several deliveries this week. Only one of them is some assembly required.
One of the deliveries was a book called Eat Like a Human. It has an actual recipe for making nixtamal. Or hominy, if you prefer. I buy my cookbooks in hard copy.
This weekend was to finish laundry; and I got about half of it done. But I need more quarters before I can do the rest, so I have an errand to run tomorrow.

Love you guys!
