Turns out Trump was behind secret $1M donation in Arizona's 2020 election audit publicity stunt [1]

The New York Times reported that several anonymous sources told them that Trump wasn’t involved in the $1 million to Mitchell. And Republican leaders told Cyber Ninjas the same, according to The Guardian.
Arizona’s election audit, which focused primarily on Maricopa County, was a “grift designed as an audit,” according to local Republicans. Bill Gates, the GOP vice-chair of Maricopa county board of supervisors during the audit, told The Guardian he wasn’t ‘surprised” that Trump handed over the money to make the audit happen, but, he added, “What I have a problem with is an audit that is undertaken with a goal in mind, and that is literally being funded by one of the candidates. This is absolutely what we do not want to happen.”
The fact that Arizona felt sweeping losses from the 2022 midterm elections hasn’t slowed the flow of bizarre conspiracy theories of election fraud in the state.
Georgia Cifelli-Amster, 62, a Republican activist and business owner from Scottsdale, told The Washington Post recently, “If you’re going to tell me somebody like Joe Biden beat Donald Trump, you’re delusional… And if you think somebody like Katie Hobbs beat Kari Lake, you are certainly delusional.”
And all of this news comes while Trump’s attorney, John Eastman, finds himself buried in a litany of disciplinary charges and facing possible disbarment in California connected to Trump’s efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 election.
Friday, State Bar of California’s Chief Trial Counsel George Cardona announced the 11 charges Eastman now faces.
“There is nothing more sacrosanct to our American democracy than free and fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power,” said Cardona. “For California attorneys, adherence to the U.S. and California Constitutions is their highest legal duty. The Notice of Disciplinary Charges alleges that Mr. Eastman violated this duty in furtherance of an attempt to usurp the will of the American people and overturn election results for the highest office in the land—an egregious and unprecedented attack on our democracy—for which he must be held accountable.”
Arizona isn’t playing around for the next election. They’re giving their legislators all the room to hang themselves in secret documents, emails, and Big Lie intrigue.
In a new ruling this week, Republican lawmakers in the state have approved a policy that legally allows lawmakers to discard documents after 90 days. The Washington Post reports that legislators from the state Senate and House can destroy any documents, including emails and texts, from personal phones after three months—effectively exempting themselves from state public records law.
According to the White Mountain Independent, if these rules had been in place in the months after the 2020 election, the public would never have been privy to the documents and messages of Arizona lawmakers who attempted to trash President Joe Biden’s win.
The rule would have shielded the public from knowledge of the emails Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, spouse of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sent to Republican House and Senate members, urging them to toss Biden’s Electoral College delegates in exchange for a group of fraudulently appointed Republican delegates.
The fact that Republican-led states such as Arizona are continuing to cover up or subvert elections and legally allowing lawmakers to hide documents is a frightening reality. Regardless of party, the shady ethics of this former President prove he should never be allowed to run for any office.
And yet… this weekend, Trump kicks off his 2024 presidential campaign with appearances in New Hampshire and South Carolina, despite the tepid support of many Republicans.
According to the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has “opened a lead” over Trump. “Less than half of likely GOP primary voters think Trump should be running.”
Neil Levesque, executive director at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, told Reuters, "People want a winner, and the elections are about the future. Republicans want someone who can win and who is not going to be a pushover for the Left. Trump represented that before, but I'm not sure he represents that now."
