Stop Pretending There’s A Solution To Gun Violence. [1]

There is no solution to gun violence. None. You think there is one? Tell me your idea and I’ll shoot you down every time. (Pun intended.)
President Biden, with advice from gun control advocates and experts across the country, has proposed several plans. All are great ideas and should be implemented immediately. Raise the age limit. Require background checks. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Strengthen background checks, enact safe storage laws and red flag laws. Repeal the immunity that protects gun manufacturers from liability. Address the mental health crisis. Compensate individuals who surrender guns through a buyback program.
My question is, so what? The problem with every one of these gun control measures is that the guns and ammunition are already out there. There’s no way to stuff that genie back into the bottle. Even if you go to extremes, it will make no difference. Ban all future gun sales? Current guns will last a hundred years, and new ghost guns are being made at home every day. Ban ammunition sales? Stockpiles and reloading will supply those guns for a hundred years. These two facts alone render all other proposals moot.
We can never end gun violence in America. It’s time to stop pretending we can.
