At around 3am, an armed and dangerous gunman went to a Circle K in Yakima, Washington and randomly shot and killed three people. The suspect then fled eastbound on Washington State Route 24, in a grey and silver vehicle. The Yakima Police Department (YPD) originally reported that the suspect committed a carjacking, where he shot a driver in order to take his car to another convenience store across the street. But, they said that there might not have been a fourth shooting victim.
Nob Hill Boulevard is closed between 16th and 18th Streets, as authorities are investigating the crime.
But more roads are closed in Yakima, which may or may not be related to the heinous crime. The suspect remains a serious danger to the community, given that several schools are “on secure-and-teach”.
Roads closed include: All of University Parkway between Terrace Heights Dr. and Hwy 24 All of W. Birchfield Rd. All of Birchfield Rd from Hwy 24 to S. 41st St. All of Gun Club Rd from University Parkway to Birchfield Rd.
In recent years, the Yakima Valley suffered from a surge in homicides. Last year, Yakima County had the highest homicide count since at least 1980, given that the 36th homicide was recorded in the latter half of November.
