Egged on by Like-Minded Media Supporters, Conspiracy Theories Abound Among the New Overlords of the US House of Representatives.
Link to Part 2 of This Diary — Trouble Brewing in the US House — The Week in Editorial Cartoons, RIP David Crosby, Part 2 Calvin and Hobbes Part 1 has over 30 editorial cartoons and images on the Republican propensity to invent phony issues of no use or relevance to anyone; the ongoing saga of George Santos with each day producing embarrassing revelations; the coming slew of Republican investigations ala “Benghazi”; movie clips from the Best of Peter Sellers as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau; and two clips from a fantastic movie and one of my all-time favorite films — The Remains of the Day. Part 2 has over 35 cartoons and focusses on the clown show that is the new Republican majority in the US House of Representatives; the Climate Change issue which isn’t receiving the attention it deserves; the role of education and lack of women’s rights in Afghanistan and Iran; the passing of rock legend David Crosby; and an incredible recreation of biblical painting by an Italian theatre group to the accompaniment of Mozart’s Requiem. I will post at least another 10-15 more editorial cartoons in each diary on a number of other issues in the news. So, you’ll get to see over 100 cartoons this evening. Thanks for supporting these diaries.

A new video emerged this week in which Santos admitted to doing drag shows in Brazil after first denying it. Speaking in Portuguese, the video shows Santos boasting about doing such shows.

New Species Discovered Catherine Rampell has breaking scientific news: “Researchers have identified a previously unknown species in D.C. Like cicadas, this species stays underground for years at a time, typically in four- or eight-year intervals. Its members hide away until there is an auspicious change in the ecosystem. Then, they bust out and wreak havoc.” “This species: Republicans who care about deficits.”

Soon-to-Be Former Congressman?
Who is the real George Santos and what does he represent? According to Esquire, here’s what is publicly known so far.
There have been some calls for his resignation.
Behold the Full, Completely Real Resumé of George Santos OK, it's hard to say "full" when there are new items dropping every day. But here's what we've got so far. George Santos is a true American archetype: the snake-oil salesman. It's a story as old as this country, though the truth pretty much ends there. I'm just waiting for this guy to announce he's a four-time champion of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. For his part, the freshman congressman from New York has admitted to "embellishing" some things, though he's also said he's "done nothing unethical," and where-oh-where did he get the idea that completely shameless behavior could be an asset in our politics today? The mystery abounds, just as further mysteries do with regard to the specifics of who George Santos is and where he came from.
