The Telegraph has the first story on insurrectionist Richard “Bigo” Barnett’s taking the witness stand today in his trial for his misdeeds on Jan 6th. And sure enough, Barnett used the “I was just looking for the bathroom” defense on invading Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office. He is also blaming photographers for the infamous feet on the desk picture. Barnett also used what I call the “rock concert” defense to explain how he got into the Capitol Building (the crowd just shoved him in!). Finally, believe it or not Barnett has some “regrets”about that day.
He is just an innocent man who just “went with the flow” that day.
There a lot of lies to unpack here, so please bear with me:
WASHINGTON (AP) — An Arkansas man testified Thursday that he was “going with the flow” when he propped up his feet on a desk in then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, posing for photographs that made him one of the most memorable figures from the U.S. Capitol riot two years ago. On the witness stand at his trial on riot-related charges, Richard “Bigo” Barnett said he was looking for a bathroom inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, when he unwittingly entered Pelosi's office and encountered two news photographers. He said one of the photographers told him to “act natural,” so he lounged back in a chair and flung his legs onto the desk. “Did it dawn on you that what you were doing could cause some trouble?” defense attorney Joseph McBride asked Barnett. “I was just in the moment,” Barnett replied. “I'm just kind of going with the flow at this point."
Easy going guy just going with the flow. And his bladder had to flow, so Barnett was looking for that bathroom when he discovered Speaker Pelosi’s office. And if it had not been for those photographers egging him on, he wouldn’t have thrown his feet up on one of the desks!
And about that stun gun? Barnett’s lawyer, a man named McBride, claimed that the stun gun was broken. Therefore, Barnett could have not have threatened anyone with the stun gun.
So why bring the fucking thing to the Capitol Building? It sure was working the night before Jan 6th because Barnett did a demo in a hotel bar! But we cannot determine that it was broken on Jan 6th because BARNETT DISPOSED OF THE DAMN THING!
As for how “peaceful” Richard Barnett got into the Capitol Building, he was swept up by the crowd! The prosecutor specifically asked Barnett if he regretted entering the Capitol Building, and here is what Barnett said:
Asked by Gordon whether he regretted entering the Capitol, Barnett insisted he was swept along with the crowd. “I do not regret getting pushed in," he said.
So he has no regrets about “getting pushed in” in the Capitol Building. Once again, Barnett is just “going with the flow.” However, Barnett has other regrets. Supposedly, he regrets the following:
Barnett, testifying near the end of his trial, said he regrets coming to Washington for the “Stop the Steal” rally where then-President Donald Trump addressed a crowd of supporters. “Two years of lost life. Misery for my family,” he said. He also expressed regret for using vulgar language in his note to Pelosi. “I probably shouldn't have put my feet on the desk,” Barnett said.
But he is not responsible for entering the Capitol Building because it was like being at a rock concert where the crowd rushes the stage. But NOW, he has some regrets. You wouldn’t think that from his interview with the FBI where he put his feet up as a display of what he did that day. And you need to get a gander of his legal defense fund website. The screaming that he is a political prisoner doesn’t sound like a man with regrets.
Finally, we have the defense put on by his lawyer, Mr. McBride:
McBride told jurors on Wednesday that Barnett was just a “crazy guy from Arkansas” who didn't hurt anybody on Jan. 6 and couldn't have harmed anybody with the stun gun device because it was broken that day. “We're not asking you to approve of his actions,” McBride said, calling it “the most famous trespass case of all time."
A TRESPASS CASE?! People died that fucking day! And Barnett is just some “crazy guy from Arkansas”!
The guilty verdict and sentencing cannot come quickly enough for me.
