Another reminder to never turn your back against unions, no matter how "anti-business" and "economy killing" they may be.

From Florida to California, and from New York to Oregon, there have been minimum wage increases. In fact, Hawaii is the first state to mandate an $18 minimum wage, which will be reached by 2028. Granted, Hawaii’s minimum wage is only $12 an hour instead of $15, but at least politicians are doing something about it.

However, some states have yet to raise the minimum wage. With all the talk of Texas cities having lower cost of living, they still have among the lowest minimum wages, even when adjusted for cost of living. In fact, according to a recent analysis made by SmartAsset, the real minimum wage is lower in Dallas, Austin, and Houston than in extremely expensive metropolises like New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. (A contrast to 2015, when Texas cities’ minimum wages were favourable despite the lack of a minimum wage increase.)

Real Hourly Minimum Wage by City City Real Minimum Wage Los Angeles $10.84 San Francisco $9.11 New York City $8.05 Houston $7.58 Austin $7.16 Dallas $6.98

x People are pointing at Texas having a low minimum wage like it’s the worst thing in the world. California has double that and we are a walking shit hole. Parts of LA remind me so much of Mexico. And im talking about East LA. I’m talking about the rape and murder. — TechnicolorBlind (@TCBlindPodcast) December 22, 2022

Texas not as bad for living conditions? Not so fast! Houston has more murders than Los Angeles in 2022. But crime is another topic for another time.

Oh, and Texas is not friendly towards unions, either.

x What exactly is the “Texas Miracle”? Generous tax incentives for businesses, low wages, against unions, lax regulations, no mandate to carry workman’s comp ins, and no legal requirement to e-verify. It’s a heaven for business, but not for their employees and the rest of us. — Me (@windmilldemon) October 5, 2022

x In Texas my grandfather and dad always preached against Unions. At 44 years of age I find out they both retried from Unions that no longer exist in Texas. They got theirs and pulled the ladder up. So many people are fine with their kids having it worse off. Hope hell is hot. — C B M (@Christo97644569) November 30, 2022

Having two decades of one-party rule in the Lone Star State will pay off in the end. Long live the Texas Miracle! /s
