Good morning, Newdists. Hope you all are doing great.

Of late, I haven’t been on social media a lot. I’ve been binge watching stuff on Netflix and PBS and listening to podcasts.

How about you? Are you still on Twitter?

Mushrooms, And Other Things

x Gliophorus psittacinus (parrot toadstool) look like green glass over bright yellow gills. They're edible, but don't taste like much and are a bit slimy, so it's best just to admire their gorgeous glassy sheen. They grow in mossy patches, lawns and cemeteries. pic.twitter.com/4ySJvC74Ib β€” Gnome Anne (@annethegnome) January 13, 2023

x Fungal spore release is not passive.

The temperature surrounding gilled mushrooms is changed by rapid evaporation which cools the air, creating air currents. Spores are then released getting enough uplift by a convection effect to reach a real breeze
