How about a crazy remembering of Robbie Bachman, who passed away yesterday? While with the Guess Who, his brother Randy Bachman wrote a song called "White Collar Worker", which couldn't be recorded because it sounded at the time too much like Paperback Writer by the Beatles. When the band was renamed "Bachman-Turner Overdrive", Randy made some changes to the song, and renamed it "Taking Care of Business". While recording the song, it just didn't sound right. After 14 hours in the studio, they ordered pizza. When delivering the pizzas, the pizza delivery guy said he could lay down a piano track on the song. So, as a joke, they gave the guy one shot to lay down his track. His track made the song, and it became a hit. It took the band days to track the delivery guy down to get him to sign a release. So who was the piano player? A guy named Norman Durkee, who went on to become the pianist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. And it was Randy Bachman who made him famous. RIP, Robbie.
