Former Marine One crewman, John Andries, who pled guilty to felony obstruction of justice for his participation in the Capitol riot, will go on trial in Maryland on 17 January 2023 for assault.

The alleged assault occurred on 17 October 2022 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, per the Maryland Judiciary Case Search.

Andries has not yet been sentenced for his Capitol riot crime and is not incarcerated. However, despite his inability to stay out of trouble the DOJ has apparently taken no action to revoke his release even though this is the second time he has been in trouble since he was arrested for the January 6 riot. (Information re his federal case was obtained from the public record on pacer.gov.)

Andries was arrested on 25 February 2022 for assaulting police and resisting arrest at a Maryland bar. The DOJ responded by filing a motion to revoke his release but federal Judge Contreras decided to order a GPS tracker for him so he could continue to roam freely in his community. The assault charge was dropped and Andries was found guilty of resisting arrest, for which he served no jail time.
