It’s National Balloon Ascension Day! Cold weather is usually a good time for hot air balloons since the difference in density is greater.

Helium balloons are less picky about weather. Balloons can also be filled with hydrogen, which is cheaper and can be generated on the spot. But it’s flammable, famously.
