Good morning, dear Newdists. The first Saturday of the New Year is here.
I’m thinking we finally have a Speaker in the House of Reps?
Oh I wish it could have been Hakeem Jeffries. What a speech!!!
But noooooo…. Instead we get The Days of Angry Clowns.
Wow! What a shit show.
The insurgency loving crazy segments of the R party are still very much in the picture. And the R-insurgency party took over the House, with a Trump anointed Speaker — on the 6th of January.
Is that weird or what?
So, now that Kevin McCarthy has sold the entire teeesy bit of soul he possesses to the Chaos Caucus, I’m thinking we will see endless debt ceiling hostage-taking, and endless Hunter Biden laptop investigations for the next two years. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if Gym and his Clown Posse drummed up some impeachments.
What do you think?

This whole thread and responses are crazy cool!!!
x It's officially news: T. rex had baboon-like numbers of brain neurons, which means it had what it takes to build tools, solve problems, and live up to 40 years, enough to build a culture! x We’re sharing an update on the Zoo’s emperor tamarin twins! 🐵Born in late October, these healthy male tamarins are starting to try solid foods like mealworms but are yet to move on to bigger insects such as locusts. Come and visit them this weekend! pic.twitter.com/CjN7st7Pub — Auckland Zoo (@aucklandzoo) January 5, 2023
x This grey fox was the only visitor to the garden last night. Dusting of snow overnight and below freezing temps kept everything else at home.
Nothing used the 'path' between fences last night, overall extremely quiet which is to be expected this time of year. pic.twitter.com/VwlvSSYI3v — sue (@CameraTrapSue) January 3, 2023
x A "ONE IN A MILLION" OCCURRENCE: Seeing a moose in Alaska isn't unusual, but catching what happens to the moose on camera is pretty rare! #moose #alaska #sheddingantlers #wildlife #animals pic.twitter.com/07i66Dr6bO — KFDA NewsChannel10 (@NewsChannel10) December 23, 2022
x Hi everyone, just want to make sure there's no misunderstanding with my plant videos. They are timelapse, the plant movement happens slowly so I speed up the videos so we can see the movement happening in a shorter timeframe. Time is shown bottom right of info bar in videos. Some Weather
x The L.A. River was wild Thursday after another storm hit Southern California, bringing rain, flash flood concerns, strong winds and dangerous surf in the region.
