There is still a hunt on for lignite in Germany because strip mining (open cast mining) is not outlawed in Germany.

In a short while the occupied village of Luetzerath de.wikipedia.org/… will be stormed. Violence flares from time to time. If the eco-occupiers are evicted less violently there is need for more personnel and time. But NRW minister of interior Reul de.wikipedia.org/… already declined.

It looks comfortable in most of the tree houses. There are small quaint living rooms — with blankets and lights and teddy bears. The eco-occupiers posted photos of it in social networks, with a noble motive as they assured: They are trying to save the planet.

They are trying to avoid that the energy giant RWE tilts the meanwhile uninhabited village to dig in open-cast mining for coal and burns it in coal plants. “Our survival on this planet is endangered by every ton of coal that is being burned” (a speaker for ‘all villages will survive’ summarized it). Correspondingly, the eco-occupiers call their settlement ‘the Shire’ after the novel ‘Lord of the Rings.’

Peaceful hobbits are living there who are threatened by an evil monster called Sauron and his army consisting of brutal orks.

The tree house paradise though is menaced by total annihilation. First police units advanced this week to perform deconstruction work. The 130 occupiers immediately complained on social networks that Luetzerath was under attack, ‘cops’ invaded the place and dared a first attack. But one is willing to defend oneself — against the police and their first in order, NRW’s en.wikipedia.org/… minister of interior Herbert Reul. He is valid in the scene as the director of the purported attack — as of such he is kinda Sauron.
