Former Gov. Matt Bevin spent his day hinting at another run in Kentucky. He tweeted teases and even held a press gaggle where he aired many grievances. But alas, he never filed to run. Rumors were swirling that the former Republican governor would try once again, and in the final hours to join the race, he made his way to Frankfort. The rumor mill was abuzz Friday morning after he tweeted a photo that appeared to show him on the road — his first tweet since September."A beautiful day dawning In Kentucky…Make it a great day!" he tweeted.Hours later, he tweeted that he'd be speaking in the Capitol rotunda at 2:45 p.m., just more than an hour before the deadline. In a more than 20-minute speech, he spent a lot of time talking about Jefferson County Public Schools, calling the district "broken." He also talked about juvenile justice, infrastructure and crime, and all the things he finds wrong with how things are handled in the state. What he didn't say was whether he was actually going to run.It was clear he was using meticulous wording all day. He even kept referencing "walking down a hall," which seemed to refer to the one to the secretary of state's office.Turned out he was referring to the one leading out of the Capitol. He ended his speech giving a shoutout to two people on Twitter who he said "read the tea leaves." The first was Ben Goldey, who said, referring to Bevin, "Probably running, but he didn’t mention which hallway he’d be going down or which way he’d be going!"Bevin left in a van with 45 minutes left to file and never returned, leaving many to wonder, what was the point?Watch Bevin's full speech below:As an incumbent, Bevin lost to democrat Gov. Andy Beshear four years ago, even as the state overwhelmingly voted republican up and down the ballot. If he makes it official, he'll join a packed republican primary going against Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Ag. Commissioner Ryan Quarles, former UN Ambassador Kelly Craft and several others.
