Oklahoma starts getting ready to tie a millstone around the necks of trans people. [1]

I wish this were hyperbole or snark, but this is an actual law that's been filed in Oklahoma, SB129, the Millstone Act of 2023.

It would make it a felony for any medical professional to provide gender affirming care to anyone under the age of 26, or refer such people to any other medical professional for gender affirming care.

I believe the title of the law is based on the Biblical reference to tying a millstone around the neck of anyone who would hurt a child.

My question for the utter asshole who filed this law is, in what world is a 26 year old a child? Bad enough Republicans have been pushing vile "groomer" rhetoric targeted at trans people and try to ban gender affirming care for children, even with parental approval and support, but there is no world in which it should be acceptable to block legal adults from electing to pursue such things for themselves.

I'll add that this is the same general strategy Republicans have been pursuing on abortion for decades, using a fake concern for children to impede and block adults from being able to pursue avenues of health care in order to exert control over people.

I truly hope that this millstone of a law ends up dragging down the reprehensible bigots who are trying to use this as leverage to create a national ban on gender affirming care of any kind for anyone, adult or not.
