Joan Jett Barbie
Tonight’s selections are cover songs by Joan Jett (most with the Blackhearts). These are all from early part of her career (70s/80s). I find it interesting that many of Jett’s biggest hits are covers (nothing wrong with that!). She’s covered so many songs (see SecondHandSongs) I may post a ‘Part 2’ in the future.
Be sure to check out the original version linked below; I’ve tried to make sure those videos are interesting to watch.
Add your favorite Joan Jett songs in the comments (covers or originals — whatever) .
The first two videos show JJ’s love of 70s UK glam rock. First, a cover of Arrows 1975 hit.
I Love Rock 'n' Roll [1981]
Next up, Gary Glitter’s 1973 song, Do You Wanna Touch Me. The less said about him the better.
Do You Wanna Touch Me [1982]
Tommy James & the Shondells from 1968. The song that inspired me to buy a tremolo pedal.
Crimson and Clover [1982]
Classic track. Love every version of this I’ve heard. The Modern Lovers, 1972.
Roadrunner [1986]
x YouTube Video
No intro needed. Sly & The Family Stone, 1968. JJ’s studio version was released in 1983.
Everyday People (Live) [2008]
Girl group classic from 1963. Lesley Gore’s You Don’t Own Me.
You Don't Own Me [1979]

SPOILER WARNING
A late night gathering for non serious palaver that does not speak of that night’s show. Posting a spoiler will get you brollywhacked. You don’t want that to happen to you. It's a fate worse than a fate worse than death.
Lastly, one from Joan Jett’s first band, the Runaways (not a cover).
The Runaways :: Wasted [1977]
