Don’t be Charlie.
Just a short note — I read that Democrats are quietly considering a Speakers deal with Republicans. All I can say to this is — don’t.
Republicans have demonstrated over and over again, both before and after TFG, they cannot. be. trusted.
So while doing the People’s business is, of course, vitally important, it is of equal importance not to ameliorate Republican’s first class job of screwing up, for the simplest of reasons: Helping Republicans in this instance is empowering them to do all of the terrible things the extremists who have taken control of the party intend to do.
So while the dream of a moderate Republican is nice and all, everyone should know by now Republicans cannot be trusted to do the right thing in these times, and the idea of a moderate Republican being capable of controlling this House is beyond laughable, beyond foolish — it is utterly irresponsible.
So hold fast, Dems — don’t participate in Republican’s problems by trying to help them out of THEIR problems by telling yourself you’re really doing it for the country. Because I promise you, they are not on the same page with you.
Help them in this moment, and we will all regret it…
