Always ready to push the envelope, Colorado’s innovative Republican business community has just generated a new opportunity for the free-speech movement. Montrose funeral-home director Megan Hess appears to have developed a side-gig surreptitiously selling the body parts of lost loved ones.
But is it free speech? Expect an appeal to the Supreme Court before the year is out. In a new twist, at least some of the bereaved family members appear to be Democrats, so no denial of services there. The trouble is that the services weren’t always requested.
To be sure, there was a visible body-parts business operating alongside the funeral home. According to Reuters:
The fake PhD is a nice Santosian touch. But the real question is why go to the trouble of selling bits of cadavers without permission when you have a legitimate, if a little grisly, business on the side doing so with full consent?
In other words, who grifts unnecessarily? Oh, wait a second...
