Thank you, Bill and Michael, for the title.

I would like to emphasize the ‘mercifully’. I know too many people whose normal is pretty bad.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Weird animal behaviors revealed in 2022.

The treadmill I should have bought in the first place was delivered early on Tuesday, having been originally supposed to arrive on the 23rd and having been delayed by the miserable weather. My grandson helped me get the damned package into my apartment (every attempt I made by myself made the thing try to slide down the steps) and get the thing out of the box. He’s stronger than I thought, and (at almost 11) pays a bit more attention to instructions than he used to.

My secondborn and son-in-law arrived safely at about 1:00 AM Tuesday, though they were apparently aiming for 10:00 PM Monday. Their travels appear to have been slowed by the seasonal heavy fog in the San Joaquin Valley, a need to be careful on I-5 while getting past Mount Shasta, and heavy rains in southern Oregon. Typical troubles for this time of year.

The visit has been very lowkey. The most exciting thing that happened on Tuesday was dinner from a Mexican restaurant.

The SIL is working part time at UCLA these days, and seems to like it quite a lot. He was complaining about lack of available space to store the equipment he’s supposed to take care of, and the need to do inventory; but that’s pretty much SOP for any university, I think.

We all went down to visit my mother on Thursday, and they went home again on Saturday. They returned my inflatable bed to me before they left, and brought me a cinnamon roll. Why does every place that sells cinnamon rolls think EVERYBODY likes that goopy frosting?

Love you guys!
