Bobbie Nelson was Willie Nelson’s older sister, and if it wasn’t for her, Willie would never have made it in music. In the early 1970’s, Willie was struggling to make ends meet in New York when she convinced him to come back to Texas and play in the Austin area. At that time, Austin was earning a reputation as a home to “outlaw” country music, and was beginning to compete successfully with Nashville. So Willie came home, and the rest is history.

By the way, Bobbie Nelson was one hell of a piano player. RIP.
