I seldom write, here — I believe this is my third diary — but there was a post by progressive radio host, Thom Hartmann, a few days ago that didn’t get the attention it deserved, IMO. I don’t know who manages the pipeline that routes certain community stories to the rec list but perhaps due to the holiday, this one was overlooked and it should not have been. No idea if my saying this helps bring the message to more folks here but it’s so important, I had to give it a shot.
Let me quote just one short bit from the article that sums up the overall point:
Whenever there’s a Democrat in the White House, literally hundreds of Republican politicians step up to the microphone or tell their local newspapers and radio stations about how the president has suddenly “opened up America’s southern border!!!”
The very first commenter said “I never thought about it that way before, but it makes perfect sense”. Same here, and frankly, I’m surprised it never occurred to me. So freakin’ obvious! And even more surprising that politicians and pundits alike have not only missed this, but in so doing have failed to shout it from the rooftops as it so richly deserves to be.
Don’t want to belabor the point. And for sure, Thom does just fine on his own reaching hearts and minds in the world. Merely hoping that my post helps direct a few more eyes at a story that merits far more attention and some direct action in response to it.
