MT Greene accuses Tulsi Gabbard of giving George Santos "no grace" [1]

At first, the GOP establishment greeted the New York Times revelation that the newly elected Representative from NY’s 3rd district, George Santos, was a serial liar with complete silence. But after Tulsi Gabbard ripped Santos apart in person on Fox News, Marjorie Taylor Greene had had enough. She took to Twitter to express her anger — at Gabbard.

In Greene’s estimation, Gabbard’s sins were two-fold. She had not treated Santos with any grace. And she had held political positions that Greene disagreed with. It was a classic case of whataboutism and distraction.

She started her Twitter rant with,

“Tulsi Gabbard, who says she is a former Democrat, gave Rep-elect George Santos zero grace, while George is admitting and apologizing for lying about his resume, just like her former colleagues are giving George zero grace & even demanding he resign.”

Let us pull Greene’s thoughts apart. First, Santos’s behavior has nothing to do with Gabbard's politics, no matter how Greene chooses to dismiss them. Second, “grace” must be part of Greene’s expedient religious vocabulary. And it does not seem like something Greene has ever extended to anyone. But hypocrisy is grist to Greene’s mill. Third, Santos’s apology is in the form of “Sure, I did some bad stuff. But everybody does bad stuff, so I’m not a bad guy.” It is a non-apology apology. And we can dismiss it as insincere.

Greene continues by further impugning Gabbard with her politics (an example of the “ad hominem” logical fallacy)

“I don’t think a former Democrat who’s [sic] actions on the House floor as recent as 2020 that gave her an A from Planned Parenthood, an F from the NRA, and … introduced a climate agenda signature piece of legislation called the OFF Act – designed to end all fossil fuels (the same as AOC’s Green New Deal) should lecture a newly elected Republican member of congress on how he should vote to represent his Republican district.”

Greene is just making things up (an example of the “straw man” logical fallacy). Despite Greene claiming otherwise, Gabbard never told Santos how he should vote to represent his Republican district. Gabbard just called him a second-rate human being. Which is obvious to anyone not blinded by imbecilic partisanship.

Here are some of Gabbard’s observations . I challenge Greene to point out which ones are untrue. Note: even Santos did not question their veracity.

“The thing is, Congressman-Elect, integrity means yes, carrying yourself with honor. But it means telling the truth – being a person of integrity And if I were one of those in New York’s third district right now, now that the election is over and finding out all of these lies that you’ve told, not just one little lie or one little embellishment, these are blatant lies. My question is, do you have no shame? Do you have no shame?” And, “Are you Jewish? We’ve got a letter your campaign sent out earlier this year, which read as follows: ‘As a proud American Jew, I’ve been to Israel numerous times for educational, business, and leisurely trips.’ You said there in that letter that you were ‘a proud American Jew.’ How do you explain that?” And, “You don’t really seem to be taking this seriously. You apologized, you said you made mistakes, but you’ve outright lied. A lie is not an embellishment on a résumé.” And she finished by saying, “Congressman-Elect Santos, we’ve given you a lot of time. The time that is owed is to the people of New York’s third. It’s hard to imagine how they possibly could trust your explanations when you’re not really even willing to admit the depth of your deception to them.”

Greene concluded that as Gabbard had changed her politics, she ought to give Santos a pass on lying to his constituents — two unrelated things. Inveterate lying is not a mistake. It is a calculated attempt to get a job (with a $174,000 salary) by deception. Santos knew he had not graduated college. He knew he had not worked for the companies he said he did. He knows he is not Jewish.

“I do appreciate that Tulsi says words that sound conservative now even though she can’t take action to back them up. I am glad she, like George, realized she made mistakes and was wrong every time she voted to support killing the unborn, taking away our gun rights, and legislated to kill America’s energy independence and the fossil fuel industry. I hope Tulsi is sincere, just like I hope George is sincere. I think we Republicans should give George Santos a chance and see how he legislates and votes, not treat him the same as the left is.”

MT “Jewish space lasers” Greene is a liar, an anti-Semite, and an unthinking bigmouth. So it is hardly surprising that she will spew her intellectual shit over social media. The base will not care. And the rural voters of Northwest Georgia will no doubt return her to Congress in 2024. But the voters of New York — even the Republican ones — place more stock in honesty than this immoral adulteress does (note that was an ad hominem attack on my part — but what the hell). I suspect that if Santos staggers through his term, he will not be back in 2024.

But McCarthy will not say anything about it, as Santos was smart enough to say he would support Kevin’s shameless play for Speaker. And the Republican majority in the House is so narrow the GOP caucus would welcome even the Son of Sam with a polite nod.

The Republican Party is a sewer. Their overlord is a liar. Their current representatives are liars. Their new representatives are liars. Their leadership is chinless, unpatriotic and lacking in decency. And their expressed governing philosophy is a promise of policy-free Benghazi-style hearings. It is no wonder their loudest voice is a clueless moron — who has the dumb luck to belong to a party where “clueless moron” is a resume enhancer. And she does not even have to lie about it — she has repeatedly proved she is exactly who she says she is.
