What are the odds that one day this guy will achieve terminal velocity with the assistance of a tall building and an open window?
Those Indian hotels must be very unsafe places.
x The Russian MP and oligarch Pavel Antonov has died during a trip to India.
The founder of Vladimir Standard, a major food industry conglomerate, was found dead after falling out the window of his hotel.
He was the richest Russian MP and a critic of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. pic.twitter.com/sk8YRV7p1f — Visegrád 24 (@visegrad24) December 26, 2022
But wait! There’s more. His friend died at the same hotel. What are the odds of such a terrible coincidence happening twice in three days?
x The death case of Pavel is the most interesting:
His body was found under the windows of a hotel in India, on December 24th. Before that, on December 22, his friend Vladimir Bidenov, businessman from Yoshkar-Ola, was found dead in the same hotel.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
x A video emerged that appears to be showing "L/DPR" commander beating soldiers who evacuated two wounded as a group of 10 people, instead of taking a position as they were meant to. (shared by @DefMon3) pic.twitter.com/y0NTIRC5Z7 — Dmitri (@wartranslated) December 25, 2022
These guys obviously need their morale improved. Notice they are covering their faces so the morale officers can’t find them.
x Russian mercenaries from Wagner insult the Chief of Russian General Staff with obscene words and complain that they have no ammunition pic.twitter.com/7LYvN2MzHr — Special Kherson Cat 🐈🇺🇦 (@bayraktar_1love) December 26, 2022
Perhaps instead of calling their alleged comrades “fa***ts,” they should just follow the example of these former comrades:
x A group of Wagner PMCs voluntarily surrendered in the eastern direction. More and more stories like these are coming out these days. It seems these guys are done fighting in horrible conditions the Russian military leaderships puts them in. Some don't even wear protection. pic.twitter.com/Zm8AbaCAyD — NOËL 🇪🇺 🇺🇦 (@NOELreports) December 24, 2022
Here’s a Twitter thread that contains several stories about what it’s like being in the Russian Army these days. Spoiler alert: It isn’t good. I’m thinking beatings wouldn’t improve any of these situations either.
x Story#2. A squad of RU soldiers armed only with firearms spent days under artillery fire and retreated after sustaining losses. Once they retreated to the nearby town, they were detained by a Wagner unit. The squad leader got his knee shot, while the rest got beaten and sent back — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) December 26, 2022
x Story#4. Russian squad was dispatched to hold a tree line until further notice. In two weeks, nobody bothered to supply a unit with food or water. They left their positions only after their soldiers started to get sick from drinking puddle water. — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) December 26, 2022
x Story#6. Mobilized soldiers complained to a senior officer about a lack of training and equipment. In response, they were assigned to dig trenches and build fortifications. After that, they were used for a recon by-fire mission where they were mostly killed or wounded — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) December 26, 2022
x Story#8 After a missile hit on barracks, a few dozen people were killed while many others went missing. Many were found later scattered across nearby towns. One soldier just locked himself in an abandoned house and drank alcohol for a week. — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) December 26, 2022
Back in Moscow folks are living in fantasyland, which certainly beats reality.
Medvedev had more than a few when he wrote this. But, hey, are you ready for President Elon Musk of the all-new Confederate States of America? How about Texas declaring independence and then merging with Mexico?
x Dmitry Medvedev had a few before bed and published a list of his predictions for 2023. The list is truly remarkable but seems to be missing a few crucial scenarios that are actually quite realistic and involve Russia... Which ones do you think they are? pic.twitter.com/TqD1ECareA — Dmitri (@wartranslated) December 26, 2022
This could be a lot of hot air, aka bullshit, but it actually might come to a Russian invasion.
But it doesn’t make any strategic sense, you say. Why bother with tiny little Transnistria and Moldova when there are serious problems with the Ukrainian invasion they should be dealing with instead?
Because the Russian Army — and Putin in particular — need a victory to crow about. And Moldova, if left to its own defense, would be a pushover. And it would be a big ole distraction from the clusterfuck that is Bakhmut and Kreminna and Svatove.
It might even provoke a NATO response, which would be a two-fer for Putin. Then he’d get to claim he wasn’t losing to those ragtag Ukrainians, he was losing to mighty NATO.
x Russia is warning that it could invade Moldova
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated on Christmas Eve that Moldova should be reminded of “the sad experience of Ukraine”
He warned Moldova not to sell or buy weapons from NATO countries
Time to free Transnistria? pic.twitter.com/xTyeJdRJyj — Visegrád 24 (@visegrad24) December 25, 2022
