Oregon’s Silver Falls State Park was opened to the public in 1933 on land that had been set aside in 1931 by the Oregon State Highway Commission. The Silver Falls State Park infrastructure was built between 1935 and 1942 by the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the skilled workers of the Works Projects Administration (WPA). The park is located in a temperate rainforest that gets about 80 inches of rain each year. There is a nature trail around the campground.

At about the halfway point on this loop trail is a wildlife viewing blind which overlooks a marshy meadow.
