Hello and Happy Holidays to you all. I will forgo my weekly reminders to watch what you eat, test regularly, and exercise (see what I did there) and go straight to some diabetes holiday cartoons. I didn’t realize those even existed until I started poking around the internet.

I’m leading off with this one. I’m sure we’ve all tested at dinner time and gotten this look.

For me it’s not a grandma, it’s my mom. She’s diabetic as well but she is still always trying to get me to eat stuff that I shouldn’t.

I think that’s one of the hardest things about the holidays — trying to figure out how many carbs are in all the delicious treats people offer and how big a piece you can safely eat without sending your glucose through the roof. Most of the time I just politely decline.

I change mine every time I test. I only use it twice if I get a finger with no blood or my test strip malfunctions and I have to poke again right then.

This should get better for many people this year as caps on insulin and other supplies go into effect.

I hate when I test after a meal I’ve eaten literally hundreds of times and been in range and for some reason my glucose is waaayyy higher than normal.

No cure this year, although there have been some great breakthroughs and the scientists are still working on it.

I’m not sure if there will be a diary next week or not. It may be just an open thread for people to wish each other “Happy Holidays!”
