Greetings from Key West FL. I’m visiting with a friend of mine from Tampa.

Key West is one of my favorite places to visit—I love the laidback island atmosphere. But alas it is a frightfully expensive place to be.

Some photos from Key West.

For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. I am currently wintering in Florida.

Cruise ship docked in port

There are lots of feral chickens running around. They are legally protected.

East Martello Battery. Part of nearby Fort Zachary Taylor, it was built during the Civil War as part of the Federal blockade, but was never finished.

I think this is a Frigate bird

There are a gazillion tourist boats and cruise ships here

Portuguese man’o’war

The Casa Marina Hotel was used as the military headquarters for the invasion force gathered here during the Cuban Missile Crisis

Red-Shouldered Hawk

Southernmost point in the continental US. (It’s really not—the Dry Tortugas Islands are further south but are not inhabited.)

Lighthouse

US Navy radar installation

War memorial

Every night there is a Sunset Party at Mallory Square on the waterfront

This street performer was doing card tricks
