Almost 108,000 children are waiting for adoption in the U.S. foster care system. adoption.com/.... It takes a special kind of person(s) and couples to become foster parent(s). Even rarer are those who are willing and able to become adoptive parents (especially for some older or special needs children). They are rare heros of our society who seldom get the recognition that they deserve.

A few years back I caught a Christmas special on CBS sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Children’s Action Network. I have tried to watch this special every year since then and I want to give it a plug here. For many, it will be maybe the most rewarding thing they watch this (or any) Christmas season. Here is the information of where to find it this year: www.davethomasfoundation.org/… It will be broadcast on Dec. 23 at 8pm eastern time.

I have tried to find a rebroadcast of past “A Home For The Holidays” just to give you a sample of what the show is like, but could not find any videos that give even a real portion of what the show is really about. I did find this but was dissappointed that it didn’t show pictures of the hero adoptive parents and their families. It is a fairly dry (in my opinion) of last year’s broadcast of “A Home For The Holidays”. www.cbsnews.com/…

Just a word of warning: No matter how “macho” or “manly” you may think you are, be prepared for at least suffering “misty eyes”. Some of us (myself included) will have the occassional tear(s) running down their cheeks. But, IMHO this is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign that you care. Before you sit down to watch, gather that box of tissues and have it within arms reach.

In my search for the last broadcast of “A Home For The Holidays”, I did come across some inspiring videos and I will share one of them with you now.

I will add this Christmas song by Skip Ewing that is far too often neglected by radio stations during the Christmas season.

Again, here is the link to this year’s “A Home For The Holidays” broadcast. Tor those interested in watching, I suggest you print it out (if you have a printer) or make a note of the time and network to add to your schedule of Christmas watching: www.davethomasfoundation.org/…

Everybody, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and happiness and good health in the coming years.
