Presidents Biden and Zelenski probably saved everything. [1]

So I just heard President Volodymyr Zelenski may be coming to America. Funny thing was, earlier today I saw a post were Ukranianian Soldiers were meeting with Zelenski in Bakhmut. In the video the Defenders of Bakhmut give Zelenski what appears to be the Ukrainian Colors that flew during some of the months of combat operations. That in and of itself is a really high honor to give away your freaking colors, but the words of respect they had for America was some serious love.

THAT got me thinking even more-yikes. But seriously do we walk among giants? I mean right now, we are clearly living through an inflection point for the ages. Future generations will easily recognize that two men will will stand above all others. I am glad that most of the world rightly recognizes President Zelenski is a man who is meeting his country’s moment in the most Churchillian of ways and will likely belong to a very short list of history’s great AND beloved statesmen. His is a desperate story, and when this is all over and he successfully leads Ukraine to victory, there will be little doubt how he helped turn the tide and will be remembered for his pivotal role in saving the west, along with democracy in Europe. Seriously. It’s that big a deal.

President Biden is pulling a Gandalf. Hear me out. In the LOR mythology, Gandalf was the last of the 5 wizards sent to help the free people of the world against Putin, errr I mean Sauron. He was described as being the oldest, less tall -Tolkien had a thing for tall heroes-, and was the most frail looking grey haired old man of the bunch. If you know the story, turns out Gandalf was the wisest and was really doing ol “let them underestimate me” routine. He was able to see what was happening when nobody listened, and figured out how to stitch a coalition of the west and finally beat Russia, err I mean Mordor. Mordor, for those of you who don’t know, was a once beautiful land filled with generally decent people who didn’t know any better, but was turned into a shit hole through bad management and shitty ideas. Sound familiar? Anyways, in the books, Gandalf rarely shows how much of bad ass he is. He out thinks everyone and comes back form the dead as his bigger, badder alter ego. Today we will call that pulling a Dark Brandon.

I think history will long admire what President Biden has done. Think about how different there world would be. What if Trump, or “Saruman” in our little metaphor, won? There would likely not be NATO, nor its member states’ magnificent response to Putin invading Russia. Even if NATO did’t unravel, without President Biden, there would have been no hope. Zero. Zilch. Without his timely intervention before the invasion, even the bumbling orcs -that one oddly is NOT a metaphor- would likely have won a long time ago. Without US intel and then the opening of the candy store, all the bravery in the world wouldn’t have held out long. President Biden and his team have put a master class in diplomacy. Think about where the world was in 2020. The election was decided and I think the whole world, outside of Russia, China, and Mar-Lago, were breathing serious sighs of thank fucking god. I think January 6th will be seen as the high water mark of the MAGA movement. Just as it seemed he whole world seemed to spiraling out of control , we started giving a shit again.

Then President Biden got to work. It was pretty incredible to think he really did start day 1 and hasn’t let up. Dude’s back gotta be sore basically saving America and the world at the same time. He starts out with a couple big wins, then really learns some hard lessons. Started looking pretty bleak, then last summer Dark Brandon shows up. Apparently President Biden had been making moves the whole time. He some how passes a bunch of bi-partisan legislation, then gets some good ass partisan legislation passed, all the while dealing with kick starting our economy, inflation, high energy prices, and the MAGA lunatics in office trying their best to hurt Americans at every opportunity.

I think we can all agree his work in supporting Ukraine had been nothing short of spectacular, with saving NATO, beating Russia, and saving Western Europe. Seriously, if not for Ukraine’s stout defense of itself, and exposing Russia for the corrupt sickness its has-insert whiffs of the OttamanEmpire/USSR vibes, then who’s to say old Vlad the bad would stop at Ukraine? Who would have stood up to him then? Germany? France? the UK? Likely, yes, they would but they are not the US. They have relied on leadership of the US for 80 years for this very reason-so we don’t go full Monty and screw up the whole ass world. While sometimes President Biden’s support has not perfect (planes and tanks please), President Biden seems to see farther and has way more visibility of consequences of action vs inaction than we can.

At any rate Ukraine will stand and very likely become a valuable ally in the years ahead. The planet has a chance now. That didn’t seem so certain after the disaster of trump era, when dictators seemed to be making a comeback, and no one was paying attention to climate change, stopping current covid outbreaks and the ones that now won't happen. Russia will play no real role in shaping what comes next, they are a spent force. So sad that they cannot get out of the Middle Ages/empire. China knows that America will be formidable and they may never get their “China Century”. If they don’t it will be in large part to what happens here. I think Europe, and very soon Africa, will continue to follow the US and tip the scales against an ascendant China. Besides, China has whole host of their own problems that will boil over before too long.

Both President Biden and Zelinski will be long remembered for what they said and did. And the world will be a better place for it. I think those future generations will give them both their proper respect among the greats to the ages that come, because without these two men, their future would have likely far different. And not for the better,
