The January 6 committee laid down a clear reminder that affirms that the US Constitution unequivocally forbids insurrection and violence against our democratically elected government.
Sorry 2nd Amendment freaks. Qualified Americans may have a legitimate reason to own a firearm, but "defending our freedom against the government" through violent armed insurrection isn't it.
And sorry NRA. You can't have it both ways. You can't claim to both strongly defend the constitution, while at the same time encouraging "Second Amendment Solutions" to destroy it with armed violence if you should take a notion.
The “Insurrection Theory” of the Second Amendment is a fraud, and all the made up “quotes” by Thomas Jefferson and others that never appeared before 1995 doesn’t change that. Neither do attempts to essentially censor “A well regulated militia” from the amendment itself, by coffee mugs and T shirts.
I'll turn the tables on “love it or leave it” conservatives, and say this: If you find our government to be tyrannical, just go someplace else. Or better yet, vote. Don't assemble an arsenal and try to start a civil war. It's a cowards way.
And don’t continue to stand in the way of sensible firearms regulation and safety because you harbor some childish revenge fantasy against your own country. You are directly responsible for the scourge of gun violence and mass shootings that shames the US among other advanced nations.
