I am keeping track of the news. Nothing to say on it that hasn’t been said better elsewhere on this site.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A man buried in medieval Poland apparently had two different kinds of dwarfism.

This is from last month, but still …. PINK auroras.

The lost Roman 19th Legion appears to have been found.

100+ years of US demographics in an animated chart.

They didn’t actually expect to find anything. A once-in-a-lifetime artifact.

America’s favorite Thanksgiving stuffings, by state.

Cambridge is going to return what they have of the Benin bronzes to Nigeria.

Seafloor changes caused by the Tongan volcanic eruption last February.

My chiropractor says the reason my right hip is still giving me problems is that the right knee isn’t flexing properly. Needless to say, I suppose, she gave me some more exercises to do. I’m working on it. I’m working on it.

School’s out till the new year.

My secondborn and her husband will be visiting between Christmas and New Year. His work schedule doesn’t allow them to be here for either holiday.

I have everything I need for my part of Christmas dinner except celery, onion and a clean kitchen.

I was two minutes late getting my grandson to school on Thursday — had to scrape ice off the windshield. For whatever reason, he was marked absent — I found this out when my daughter called me to find out what I had done with him. Let him out at the usual spot and last I saw, he was running for the building. The school thought he wasn’t there because he didn’t check in at the office and his teacher doesn’t always take roll.

Books, books and more books. The newest for Ilona Andrews’s Innkeeper series (nice twisty fun); a novella by Celia Lake (how the parents of the hero in the first book of one of her series met and became involved); and Mercedes Lackey’s newest Valdemar book as well as the newest collection of Valdemar short stories. Also, the second of a projected series by Gail Z. Martin — I’m very fond of her stuff, but it doesn’t have the high adventure/low comedy mix, it has magical monster hunters in supposedly strictly non-magical modernday places, and the occasional romance.

Love you guys!
